Hole Description:
Hole two at Calderone is perhaps one of the toughest par three holes you will find in all of Southern Michigan. It is surrounded by heather and has traps in the front and right rear of the green. It generally plays into the a stiff cross breeze which compounds the difficulty of the hole by doubling the spin you put on a good fade or slice. Add to that a huge front bunker, a hog back behind it, and hidden right rear trap and you begin to see why par here is like a birdie.
Tee Shot Tips:
It is requires a long and high fade to play it properly. A typical shot from the blue tees plays like a 231 yard high fade shot. However, there is a hog back in the front center of the green. If you land on the hog back you can expect it to kick the ball into the back hidden trap. Going for the pin when it is front right is an option, but one that is easy to come up short. Being short right is a very tough up and down.
Landing Zone Tips:
Your best chance at par on this hole is by hitting the green anywhere left of center. If you are long, you still have some green to work with on your chip. Just use enough club if you take the left route as chipping over the front sand trap is perhaps one of the tougher shots in golf due to the hog back in the front center of the green.
Putting Tips:
Green two has several subtle contours even when you appear to be on a level area. This is due to the slope of the hog back front center, and the overall front to back grade. Taking a good look at the influence of the rear to front slope and the hog back combined is your best read. The speed is moderate to fast on most putts.
