Hole Description:

The fifteenth par three at Calderone should be named the Shark Eater.  I cannot think of a better name for it as I would love to see how Greg Norman would attack this hole.  It requires an aggressive iron or utility club in most cases.   It is well guarded with bunkers front and to the left and a giant hog in the right center of the green.  It is both a humbling hole and one you can birdie if you are on your game.  It has enough challenge to test the skills of any golfers and yet enough rewards to make it lasting memory if you lucky enough to get close.

Tee Shot Tips:

If the pin is up front, beware you are shooting at sucker pin.  It is a easy to miss on any day, but it is especially easy to miss up front as the green is much narrower up front than it is in back.   If the pin is in the middle or back you can attack it, but expect one of several outcomes.   You can plan on being surprised more often than not on just how much the wind is actually coming into play even when it appears calm.  A fade can easily turn into a small slice and end up trapped on the hill to the right side of the green or even off in the woods.   On most days, from the blues a decent 5 iron can reach the front, and a 4-iron or utility can reach the back.   However, on real windy day, the same clubs are simply not enough.  So take an extra moment to think about the wind and adjust your club selection by at least one club on moderately windy days and up to 2 clubs on a brisk windy day.

Landing Zone Tips:

You generally get what you expect on this green except when you land on the hog to the right, then it stops on the front side, and kicks long off the back side.  The back middle is your best birdie spot when the pin is in the back.

Putting Tips:

This green is faster than you think in most cases.  I would rate it more towards fast than towards moderate.  It is very fast if you are coming down the hog in any direction.  In the back putting from the left to the right there is about six to eight inches of break as a general rule.  Putting from the front to the back is a long difficult putt to judge the speed.  It is perhaps the slowest putt on the green and is easy to come up 6 or 8 feet short.
