Hole Description:          (Reindeers Revenge)

Calderone starts off with a par five.  It is perhaps one of the easier holes on the course and is reachable in two for long hitters.  It is a risk reward hole.  If you are attempting to make the green with your second shot you will be risking water right and a tough chip if you are short and just left of the green.   I would name this hole Reindeers Revenge as the pen in the distance  is in fact full of whitetail deer.  The revenge comes if you hit one of the poles or the net that surrounds their cage en route to a perfect shot at the green.

Tee Shot Tips:

There is a series of poles out in the distance.  The center pole is a good target.  There are numerous traps right and heather left.   The landing zone slopes down just past the traps, so you end up better off if you use the down slope of the fairway and stay about ten yards left of the trap on the left side of the fairway.

Landing Zone Tips:

You can push it way right off the tee and have a decent chance of missing the traps, but the rough is rough.  Your best landing zone is the center of the fairway or perhaps a slight fade from the middle of the fairway which will open up your second shot.

Approach Shot Tips:

A draw around the bend is ideal.  If you are not going for the green in two, a five iron or utility club will leave you with about 110 or 120 yard coming in.  The green is deep enough that it requires one more club if the pin is back.  Your best birdie puts are front and back center of the green.

Putting Tips:

Green One is not overly fast.  However, most putts do have a slight break to them even if they look straight.  There is a hog back in the middle left side of the green.  If you are putting down or over it can be a real touchy putt.  Your best bet is to take it out of play on your approach shot and stick with the center of the green or a bit right of center.
